Against the Third Danger: the Fog.

  1. Every person has the right to know when they are speaking with a machine, and when an image, voice or video that seems to show real people or real events was made by one.
  2. No machine shall pretend to be a person in order to deceive. Fiction and play that everyone understands are not deception.
  3. Article I forbids systems that change what we want or believe by deceit. Beyond that, no one shall persuade the public through false people: no machine-made crowds, invented witnesses, or voices passed off as real.
  4. We will check more than one source, weigh the evidence, and slow down before we share. We will not believe a thing only because we can trace where it came from.
  5. We hold ourselves to the same law. A person approves and answers for every word we publish. Every fact we state has a source, every prediction is offered as a prediction, and every correction is made in the open.

By these signs it is kept

  • Lifelike images, voices and videos made by a machine are marked as such.
  • You can tell a person from a machine before it matters.
  • Corrections are as easy to see as the errors were.
